Is your basement dry enough for carpet?
We look for staining, efflorescence and any history of water before recommending carpet downstairs. If the basement has taken water, we'll steer you to luxury vinyl or carpet tile instead — and we'll tell you that at the estimate, not after.
The right carpet for below grade
Low-pile, Berber and level loop constructions handle basement humidity better than plush. A tighter carpet doesn't show the occasional damp-track and cleans more easily. Carpet tile is the most forgiving option because individual tiles can be swapped if there's ever an issue.
Padding matters more downstairs
Basement-rated pad is rebond or a synthetic fiber pad that resists moisture and won't hold it the way standard pad can. The pad is where most below-grade carpet failures actually start, so we never use a residential bedroom pad in a basement.
Carpet tile for basements
Carpet tile installs over a concrete slab with minimal prep, tolerates access to a floor drain, and lets you replace a single tile — the safest choice for a basement with any moisture history.
Who this service is for
Finished family rooms, play rooms, home theaters, spare bedrooms and rec rooms in dry, conditioned basements across Metro Detroit.
Installation day
We prep the slab, install the correct pad, stretch and seam the carpet, and finish the transitions at the stairs and doorways. Most basement rooms are done in a day.
